Chen Zhao is a cognitive neuroscientist and alumnus of the Institute of Medical Psychology at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU), where she completed her Dr. rer. biol. hum. in 2025 as a member of the Pöppel Group. She also holds an M.A. from New York University and a B.S. from Peking University. Her doctoral research investigated temporal perception and the three-second time window, combining behavioral, MEG, and neuroaesthetic approaches. She continues to work closely with Professor Ernst Pöppel and the Pöppel Group on joint publications, group discussions, and the development of new research directions. Currently a Special Postdoctoral Researcher at the RIKEN Center for Brain Science, she has shifted her focus to the positive effects of fatigue on motor learning, integrating her background in temporal dynamics with performance optimization and its neural correlates.
